Pretty in Punk

I've always liked cute clothes with punk influences, and I was quite smitten with this long sleeve tee, I saw at Target recently. Skulls have grown on me the past few seasons, especially when they are presented in a new fresh way. Also the ombre effect is cute, not to mention it's pink. I couldn't find a link online but's the LOL Vintage brand.

It definitely got me inspired. I really love flowers and want to get better at drawing them, so I think I'm going to work on that :)

What did you think about the First Lady's wardrobe on Monday? I thought the coat was interesting by Thom Browne, the print was said to be inspired by a man's tie, accented with a J.Crew belt. I have never been a huge fan of jacquard, but I like that she makes interesting with the belt and pop color gloves.
I got the first lady fashion pictures from here.

I think her bangs are awesome and her red dress was pretty (again by Jason Wu)
I think I like the red dress better, the subtle print is fashion forward and elegant. Which is your  favorite?

I did a bunch of cleaning and organizing this weekend, and work is crazy busy. Needless to say I am brain dead, but I hope to have some more posts and new sketches this week. Happy Tuesday!

Runway vs. Real Way: Peplums

I'm super excited for fall! Especially fashion wise......all the texture and jewel tones it's my favorite time of year for so many reasons.
Ok so 3 months ago when the fall trends started trickling in, I kept hearing peplums are gonna be big.
I'd I kept thinking really women are going to want to draw attention to their hips......ok?
And sure enough they started gaining momentum and are pretty much everywhere....even Kohls.
Here's the view from the runway( see slideshow here)

In some cases it's just a ruffle added on top of a tapered pencil skirt shape but there are subtle and exaggerated versions. I thought I wouldn't like it but I tried a dress on the other day and didn't feel completely ridiculous so that's always nice :)

Here are some of my favorite silhouettes....

patterned and belted

I like that the peplum is tapered and the bow belt is cute

polka dots give it a fun spin

I like the neckline and hem on this one
love the pintuck neckline
also super cute as a skirt

peplum top

1. patterned and belted
2.tapered with bow and polka dots
3. cute neckline and hem
4.burgundy dress and black skirt
5. peplum top

So in a nutshell peplum dresses are pretty and retro, skirts are fun...... but as a top the idea just seems  a little disjointed. Do you think you will be incorporating this look into your fall wardrobe? I might try to as soon as I get back in shape lol :)

Hello

Hello there!
I wanted to start this blog to share the things that I’m excited about: crafty things, all kinds of fun design, and culinary adventures.
Recently, I have decided to pursue the things that are important to me....mainly exploring different creative avenues in my free time.

So let's get to it!

Not only was it Superbowl Sunday, it was also the debut of Jason Wu's Target collection.
Some of you are probably saying Jason Who? Jason has gained recognition thanks in part to the First Lady, he designed the white gown she wore at the inaugural balls.
I think he's really good at girly details and you can definitely see how he interpreted his Target collection from his latest Spring Collection.
I was impressed with different fabrics they used in the Target collection, and I like the subtle details of his designs and ordered some dresses online, we'll have to see how they look in person.

I also really love to experiment with recipes, I wanted to make pizza from scratch but I was kinda tired so I got pre-made garlic naan at Target of course! I piled on fresh mushrooms, bell peppers and tons of basil. I think they turned out pretty good, filling and full of flavor. This is one pizza I do not feel guilty for eating.

What did you do Sunday?

New inspiration and new projects

I love going to museums and admiring some of my favorite artists and discovering new ones too! My goal for this year was to visit a diffe...
