new blog features, baking and Oscars

Hello and Happy Wednesday!
I added blogs I follow on the right side bar, they are mostly food, fashion, and craft related, I know that's a surprise but check it out you might find something new and fun. Also I added email subscription bar at the top of the blog so you can subscribe to FTF by email :)
I tried making a key lime pie for the first time this weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised how easy the recipe came together. I used cinnamon graham crackers and coconut oil in place of butter for the crust( just like Babycakes taught me) and squeezed all the limes myself :)

Now to master cheesecake, among other things.

I was kind of underwhelmed by the red carpet at the Oscars, but these were my favorites:

Natalie Portman: Vintage Dior ( Love it! )

Octavia Spencer: Tadashi Shoji (awesome beading detail)

Michele Williams: Louis Vuitton (everything looks good with her short hair)

Penelope Cruz: Giorgio Armani ( love the silhouette, she's always elegant)

Was anyone surprised that "The Artist" won Best Picture? I wasn't I knew the Academy would delight in a concept that celebrates movies and nostalgia. I still haven't seen it yet, I plan to soon though. I was surprised to find out what else Bérénice Bejo has appeared in ( she plays the leading lady in "Artist"). I will admit " A Knight's Tale" is one of my favorite silly movies and  I  can't believe I didn't recognize her sooner, although it is a small part, she plays the Princess' Lady in waiting or whatever you want to call it!

Hope to have more craft/art related things soon!

She's the one on the left by the way

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello and Happy Vday!

Speaking of Valentine's Day, one of my favorite things to draw lately is couples, sometimes humans and sometimes animals. I just love the idea of cute little traits that couples have coming out in a drawing, whether they are similar or opposite I think that's part of the fun.
As a said in my first post, I'm trying to spend more time doing the things that I enjoy, and over this past year I wanted to connect back to something creative that had tangible instant results, so I began to draw.
To my surprise my creative mascot of sorts became an owl, something that I know is so trendy both in the craft and fashion world. I think I just wanted to put my own spin on it, kind of rebel against the mainstream trendy owl. I realized as my doodling became more frequent that I really enjoy drawing birds they can be goofy, sarcastic, and beautiful.....anyway I hope to share more of my drawings soon I am in the tweaking process now.
One of my favorites

pretty little peacock

Who doesn't love an owl with a scarf ?

Another thing I want to talk about is Midnight in Paris.....the Woody Allen movie that is nominated for Best Picture. I am trying to see all the Best Picture movies before the Oscars at the end of February.
Now I'm not a big Woody fan but I thought I'd give it a shot because I like Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams.  I was pleasantly surprised :) I really liked it and it really got me thinking about how everyone probably thinks from time to time that things were better in the past....more simple, more creative, more exciting, etc.  It also got me really excited to visit Paris again and then I saw this commercial!

YAY for spring colors and hot air balloons!

More to come :)

Hello

Hello there!
I wanted to start this blog to share the things that I’m excited about: crafty things, all kinds of fun design, and culinary adventures.
Recently, I have decided to pursue the things that are important to me....mainly exploring different creative avenues in my free time.

So let's get to it!

Not only was it Superbowl Sunday, it was also the debut of Jason Wu's Target collection.
Some of you are probably saying Jason Who? Jason has gained recognition thanks in part to the First Lady, he designed the white gown she wore at the inaugural balls.
I think he's really good at girly details and you can definitely see how he interpreted his Target collection from his latest Spring Collection.
I was impressed with different fabrics they used in the Target collection, and I like the subtle details of his designs and ordered some dresses online, we'll have to see how they look in person.

I also really love to experiment with recipes, I wanted to make pizza from scratch but I was kinda tired so I got pre-made garlic naan at Target of course! I piled on fresh mushrooms, bell peppers and tons of basil. I think they turned out pretty good, filling and full of flavor. This is one pizza I do not feel guilty for eating.

What did you do Sunday?

New inspiration and new projects

I love going to museums and admiring some of my favorite artists and discovering new ones too! My goal for this year was to visit a diffe...
